The Board of Technology Access for Social Development (Australia) consist of:
Terry Bracks has a Bachelor of Education from Rusden State College and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Science from the West Australian Institute of Technology. She has worked as a teacher in regional Victoria and as an electorate officer to Federal MPs. Terry is patron of Heide Gallery and of Big Brothers Big Sisters, which provides adult mentors to young people at risk. She is on the board of the Breast Cancer Network Australia and the Australian Children’s TV Foundation. She is Co-Chair of the Australia East Timor Friendship Schools Project and is the Founding Chair of Western Chances, a scholarship program for young people in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. Bruce Mildenhall With over twenty four years as an elected official, Bruce Mildenhall is an experienced and credentialed community leader. He recently left the Victorian State Parliament after a fourteen year career that saw him Steve Bracks Parliamentary Secretary for seven years, and prior to that, a shadow minister for a five year period, including shadow Attorney General and Shadow Minister for Education. Before election to Parliament in 1992, Bruce served nine years as an elected councillor on the City of Footscray, including a term of Mayor in 1987/88. Outside his elected career, Bruce was a senior manager in the state Department of Sport and Recreation for seven years, and has served on boards ranging from hospitals and community health, to sports and arts centres, and education bodies. Bruce is Chair of Computers for Every Child. Currently Bruce is self employed and working on a number of community initiatives including a national diabetes centre for Melbourne’s western suburbs, a computer access program for disadvantaged students and families in the Sunshine area, and is playing a leadership role with the Western Region Health Centre, the new Maribyrnong Sports College, Doutta Galla Aged Services, and youth initiatives in the area. Murray Chapman Murray Chapman is a business consultant. He works with large corporations to improve IT effectiveness. He also provides general consulting and managerial services to start-up companies. Prior to establishing his own business, he was a General Manager at the National Australia Bank with responsibility for delivering performance improvements to the company’s $1 billion per annum IT function. Murray was recruited to the NAB from London where he was a Vice President with AT Kearney, an international management consulting company. In this role he advised organisations that included Rolls-Royce, Glaxo SmithKline and the Inland Revenue Department on how to improve their business and IT operations. Murray’s career includes 8 years in marketing roles with Kimberly-Clark Corporation and 3 years in financial roles with Anglo American Corporation. He has a graduate qualification in Accounting and post graduate qualifications in Business Economics and Marketing. Alan Dash - M Ed, Grad Dip Res Man, Cert A, TTLC, TPTC, SFCDA, FAMI. Alan Dash is principal of Sunvale Primary School, Chairman of Victoria Teachers Credit Union , Chair of the Melbourne Credit Union Forum, and a consumer representative to the Victorian Eyecare Service and a companion supporter of the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Alan received the Centenary Medal for service to Education and Community in 2003. Alan is passionate about improving learning and family connectedness and sees the CFEC initiative as a powerful tool for improving communication, thinking creatively and solving problems.
Members of the Steering Committee include the Board members of Technology Access for Social Development, together with the following people: Geoff Bentley Geoff is a sales professional and has been a pioneer in NEC’s transition into Data. Geoff is responsible for establishing good working relationships with NEC’s customers to ensure the relationship delivers on their business needs. These complex end-to-end solutions utilize products and services from many partner companies and Geoff ensures the experience is seamless for the customer. Geoff’s role includes mentoring and educating as well as the development and continual improvement of sales teams and strategies. Prior to joining NEC in 1997, Geoff has worked within the data channel at Trident Computer Services and is a qualified Electronics Technician and Computer Engineer. He is a member of Rotary Club of Brighton, Westend Association and the Intelligent Transport Systems Association of Australia. Geoff is married and has three children; personal interests include golf and renovating. Laurence Anthony Joseph BSc Hons DMS CFRE FAIM FFIA Laurence Joseph was educated at London University with post-graduate management studies at the Portsmouth Management Centre (UK). After a four year period with the British Civil Service, he worked in local government and not-for-profit agencies in Britain. Arriving in Australia in 1981 to become Executive Director of Jewish Community Services (now part of Jewish Care) for over 16 years, Laurence was also a Trustee of the Lily & Egon Weiss Trust, former President of the Community & Residential Services Employers Association and Employer Representative on the Victorian Government Community & Residential Services Conciliation & Arbitration Board. At the beginning of 1997 he was appointed Executive Director of the Hong Kong Jewish Community Centre and, upon his return, Laurence set up Madison Associates – a Brisbane-based fundraising consultancy specialising in education, community events and strategic partnerships. Since December 1999, Laurence has been employed by the Gandel Group of Companies as Executive Director of the Gandel Charitable Trust and a director and Company Secretary of the corporate trustees of the Gandel Foundation and the John & Pauline Gandel Charitable Trust. Laurence has held a number of community positions, most recently chair of the Victorian Government’s Accessible Housing Ministerial Task Force. He is also a former director and Company Secretary of Technology Access for Social Development (Australia). He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, Fellow of the Fundraising Institute of Australia and is accredited as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE). Marsha Thomson Marsha Thomson was elected to Parliament in September 1999 and was Minister for Information and Communication Technology and Consumer Affairs in the Victorian Government and is also former Minister for Small Business. Marsha has been an Economic forecaster and worked in Project Management as well as senior adviser roles for both Federal and State Ministers. She is currently the Member for Footscray and Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier and Arts. Graeme West Graeme is a business change management leader with extensive experience in business leadership, relationship building, continuous improvement, communication, project management and the implementation of strategic change. Business leadership, improvement initiatives and change management are the strong linkages through a diverse progression of roles in Government, corporate and social profit sectors. Graeme has had extensive involvement in the welfare sector including managing a youth support centre in Dandenong and leading a collaboration project involving 10 organisations looking to work more effectively together.
